Designations

A notice of requirement is the way a requiring authority (such as a Minister of the Crown, district council or network utility operator) gives notice to a Council that it is seeking to designate land.

Once confirmed, a notice of requirement is called a designation.

Designations are included in the proposed district plan either when a requiring authority seeks to rollover an existing designation from the operative district plan or where it gives notice of a new requirement to the Council within 50 days of notification.

The designations proposal has been reviewed as follows:

Stage one - all non-Council rollover requirements and one new notice of requirement for Orion New Zealand Limited. 

Stage two - Council rollover requirements only.  

Stage three - new notices of requirement by the Minister of Education for 26 existing state integrated schools.  Submissions have closed.
